Webelos to Scout Transition Attention Cubmasters, Webelos Den Leaders, and Scoutmasters:
Webelos transition is not automatic. You need to be proactive on both the pack and the troop side. The Webelos leader should be preparing the Scouts by continually promoting Boy Scouting. Scouting should be viewed as an ongoing adventure, and the progression should be as normal as moving from elementary to middle school. Also, Boy Scout troops should assign an Assistant Scoutmaster or a Troop Committee member to be responsible for new Scouts which would include developing a relationship with the units in the area. This person serves as a resource for the Webelos overnight activities and builds enthusiasm among the boys.
You are
now asking: how do I find out who are the Scoutmasters or Cubmasters
for the units near my unit? Well, this is where we can help direct
you and your Scouts. We have a list of these leaders in your area.
All unit info stays within this district and is not Please call Shelter Rock’s Webelos to Scout Transition Chairman, Bill Birkdale at 516-873-1413 or birkdale@yahoo.com with your questions and inquiries. Bill will help direct you and answer your questions. This will be your biggest tool in the transition process.
